Objective #
To verify whether a user’s PC can update the tool automatically, following a controlled process without using elevated permissions (administrator or IT profile).
Prerequisites #
- Access to the old version of the tool’s installer.
- A standard user profile with no administrative privileges.
- Internet connectivity on the user PC.
Procedure #
1. Log In to the User Profile #
Log in to the PC using a standard user account. Ensure the account does not have administrator privileges.
2. Prepare the Old Version of the Tool #
Download this specific version of tool:
3. Install the Old Version #
- Launch the installer by double-clicking it.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.
- Note: If a prompt requests administrator credentials, log the issue and stop further steps as the user profile lacks necessary permissions.
4. Verify Installation #
Once installed, open the tool and confirm the version matches the old version.
5. Test Automatic Update #
- Launch the tool and leave it running for 3 minutes to allow update checks.
- Observe for any pop-ups or notifications indicating an available update.
6. Verify Update Success #
- After the update, verify the tool’s version, this must have the same version as the latest version available on pro.salesnote.eu usually found under the Profile
Settings
menu in the tab ACT. - Ensure the version matches the latest available version.
7. Log Results #
- Success: Update completed successfully.
- Error: Document any specific error messages and conditions encountered.
8. Uninstall (Optional) #
If the tool is no longer needed:
- Navigate to
Control Panel
>Programs
>Uninstall a program
. - Select the tool and click
Uninstall
. - Ensure no residual files remain in the installation directory.
Post-Procedure Steps #
- Submit the logged results to the IT team for further analysis and/or to support@salesnote.eu.
- Report any anomalies encountered during testing.
- Securely dispose of the installer if no further tests are planned.
